I can only assume that these comments were designed to satisfy a domestic audience, because the outside world would laugh its conkers off before extraditing anyone

My god this lot are acting like children, scared of smelling their own crap they have made or what ?
I do wish they would stop snivelling and whining about people forming their own opinions outside Thailand in a free country.
Luckily hardly any country takes any notice or recognises barbaric and numpty laws such as les majeste.
I think the lecturer is doing his job properly teaching the kids critical thinking and for themselves.
Thats what Thailand really has a problem with....intelligent, reasoning, free thinkers.....
You do realise if Thailand was a Muslim nation they would probably issue fatwas on these people they are so thick in the head.

I remember seeing Abhisit arguing that other countries have the same law. He mentioned Denmark and Holland. No comparison. Only Thailand goes massively overboard with this law. This from wiki about a case in Holland (nobody has been to jail in Denmark it seems for this 'crime' or ven had a guilty verdict...it's ignored but on the statute for old times sake at best);
''In October 2007, a 47-year-old man was sentenced to 1 week imprisonment and fined 400 € for, amongst other things, lese-majesty in the Netherlands when he called Queen Beatrix a "whore" and told a police officer that he would have anal sex with her because "she would like it".
Now, I think that if you commited that crime in Holland or any other country against an ordinary member of the public...you may face a similar punishment (look at the recent cases of internet trolling in the UK.or USA for example)
So when they tell you ''other countries have the law too'' you can tell them to stop talking out of their bottoms as the law is never enforced. This law has not been prosecuted in the UK since 1715!
